Shannon Spotswood joined RFG Advisory in September 2015 as president, with a mandate to reimagine the company from the ground up. Since then, she has worked alongside a team she considers the true engine of that transformation.
Before entering wealth management, Spotswood spent 20 years in San Francisco, working as an investment banker at Volpe Brown Whelan and a hedge fund portfolio manager at Symphony Asset Management. In an unexpected career turn, she spent three years building Busy Bees, an American-prep luxury children’s clothing company, alongside its founder while her three children were young. She was still with Busy Bees when she and her husband, Matt, moved their family to Birmingham, AL. Never imagining she would return to wealth management, let alone in Birmingham, Spotswood set out to find an opportunity to build something bigger than herself. She found it at RFG.
Spotswood leads with a servant’s heart and a growth mindset, holding her team to an A-player standard. Together, she and the RFG team are building the RIA of the future: a tech-forward, AI-powered platform paired with institutional-caliber investment management for independent advisors.
