“I’ve never woken up and dreaded going to work. Every day presents a new idea, challenge, or opportunity to solve a problem,” says Alexander Reed, Chief Investment Officer at Envisage Wealth. He describes this mindset as having “passionate vision,” one that has carried him from an intern’s desk to a seat at Envisage Wealth’s executive leadership team and recognition as one of InvestmentNews’ Rising Stars for 2026.
Reed’s ambition to lead investment strategy was there from the very beginning of his career. Early on, he watched Envisage Wealth acquire another practice. “What stood out to me was that the two practices had very different investment philosophies and approaches, yet there was no unified strategy or process that could bring the teams together and move forward as one,” he says.
Rather than wait for someone else to address it, he built and pitched an end-to-end investment framework himself, an initiative that grew into establishing and scaling the practice’s investment team.
This project also revealed a broader interest in business strategy and growth, which eventually opened the door to the Executive Leadership Team, a milestone Reed calls the single biggest achievement of his career. “Not because of the title, but because of what it represented,” he says. “It was a vote of confidence from the partners that they trusted my commitment to the practice, our team, and our clients.” What made the moment memorable for him was that the partners looked past age and tenure and bet on his vision instead.
Reed traces much of his outlook to Jeff Chaddock, CEO of Envisage Wealth, as a mentor who pushed him to adopt a “business unusual” mindset rather than follow the industry’s standard playbook. Despite ranking among the country’s top advisors, Chaddock’s focus never strayed from the client, a lesson Reed says has shaped how he approaches leadership and client experience alike.
“Private wealth has long been viewed as a business that provides a relatively low-touch service wrapped in relationships and investment management,” Reed says. He believes the opportunity is far greater than that and sees the future belonging to practices that help clients live more fulfilling lives, defined on the client’s own terms rather than the advisors’.
Turning that belief into consistent practice across a large advisory team is now his central challenge, one he addresses by arming advisors with market insights and educational resources so that clients feel Envisage Wealth’s approach even when they aren’t speaking with Reed directly.
For Reed, being recognized as a Rising Star has been humbling rather than validating in the traditional sense. “I’ve never been someone who is motivated by awards or recognition,” he shares, adding that it mattered mainly as a chance to pause and reflect. It hasn’t shifted his goals, only sharpened them, and it has left him energized to keep improving. “My north star is helping build a practice that redefines the standard for elite private wealth advice, one that combines institutional-caliber expertise with a deeply personal client experience.”
