“Our mission is ‘bigger than money’ – helping clients align their wealth with their values, use money as a tool for living fully, and create a sense of confidence and purpose that carries into every part of their lives”
Lucas Mijares,
Zion Capital Wealth Management
For Lucas Mijares, financial planning is much more than just a job. The founder and wealth advisor at Zion Capital Wealth Management, has backed himself throughout his career, taking on ambitious plans with full confidence in his abilities.
Starting Zion Capital was a massive leap into the unknown for Mijares, who left a stable job at Edward Jones to embark on this new journey. With over $250 million now managed by Zion Wealth, Mijares’s financial goals for the firm are well on track. But the most significant pride point for him has been his ability to facilitate financial freedom for his clients.
“What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built and the relationships that go far beyond account balances. Our mission is ‘bigger than money’ – helping clients align their wealth with their values, use money as a tool for living fully, and create a sense of confidence and purpose that carries into every part of their lives,” he explains. “I know firsthand that money is there to serve life, not the other way around.”
Always dedicated to his clients, Mijares is focused on scalable growth. He has consistently increased the firm’s volume while maintaining a relationship-driven mentality with a team of like-minded, hungry advisors.
“I want clients to feel known and cared for. I deal with that by building a strong team, putting the right systems in place, and making sure I stay close to the people I serve,” he notes.
Openness and honesty are the hallmarks of Mijares’s communication style, with clients able to feel heard after each meeting. His curiosity propels him to never stop learning, while his humility allows him to admit to clients when he does not know the answer to a question.

“I really take the time to hear what matters to clients, and then I simplify things for them. People don’t want jargon – they want honesty and someone they can trust. Being real and straightforward has been my edge,” he says.
“Instead of hiding behind inexperience, I leaned into curiosity. I asked more questions, stayed adaptable, and tried new approaches. That mindset of learning and not being afraid to admit what I didn’t know helped me grow faster.”
Though Mijares spent much of his early career trying to blend in with the crowd, he has found freedom through presenting his genuine self to clients. This has allowed him to carve his own unique path, while setting himself up for a long, successful career.
“Early in my career, I thought I had to look older, act more formal, and fit the mold. Now I’m comfortable just being me,” he explains. “I’m real with clients, I don’t put on a show, and that honesty draws people in. Because it’s authentic, I don’t have to try – I’m not faking it. That comfort in my own skin has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve grown so quickly.”
