“As my client base and staff have grown, it has become less about me and more about how I can empower others to embrace our carefully crafted culture”
David Pickler
Mayflower Advisors
As founder and president of Cognitive Wealth Management, Tori Samuel manages a team of advisors and staff, works directly with clients through comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and insurance services. He is also in charge of recruiting and M&A for the firm.
Since Cognitive Wealth Management was established in 2019, it has continued to grow at a rapid pace.
“It’s been the biggest achievement of my career,” Tori says. “If you could tell the younger Tori growing up with little financial means at his grandmother’s house that one day he’d be able to employ folks and compensate them to enhance their livelihood while working for clients to help them achieve their financial goals and manage their wealth, he would not have been able to even comprehend what that would look like, and now it’s a reality.”
Along with the business evolving, his team has also grown exponentially.
“From a business management standpoint, the issues or challenges that I face continue to evolve and change the more my firm evolves. Currently, I'm managing more advisors and staff, making sure that the communication is efficiently streamlined across the firm has been the latest challenge for us to overcome” he shares.
“We’ve accomplished this through creating systems in our CRM that have workflows designed to automate communication between the team regarding event planning and client service requests.”
They have also established different team meetings and created departments within Cognitive Wealth Management so that advisors and staff have taken ownership from their investment committee, event planning and social media, to business planning and marketing.
Tori believes his genuine warmth with clients has helped him succeed.
“My ability to actively listen and empathize with people is my strongest quality professionally. From working with clients to managing advisors and staff, they would all agree that no matter what, they know I truly care about them and I’m always reliable to be there when they need me.”
He has a core mission at Cognitive: goal, problem, solution.
“Working with a client to understand what is important them, what issues are in front of them that could either make that goal harder to accomplish, or put it out of reach entirely, I customize solutions for them that we walk through together leading with an education first based approach,” he explains. “It is important to me that my clients understand their current situation, current and future potential problems, and from there, I educate them on what solutions to help them accomplish their goals. I take this same approach in my business whether it’s working with advisors and staff or overcoming challenges in my role.”
For Tori, knowledge is power, as he isn’t shy when seeking advice.
“I’ve always look for more successful tenured advisors that I can learn from. It’s allowed me to avoid some of the mistakes they made in the earlier stages of my career as well as implement aspects of their businesses that have expedited their own success into my own practice, which has been a meaningful impact in how Cognitive Wealth Management has grown and evolved over the years,” he says.
This mindset has allowed Tori to become an industry thought leader.
“By becoming an expert in my field and demonstrating my expertise in the form of education to the clients I serve, I am always learning more in an ever-changing industry, which provides me with a distinct advantage over older advisors who are stuck in their old ways of doing things.”

“From my earliest memories, I always had a passion for service,” says David Pickler, president and CEO of Pickler Wealth Advisors.
After joining investment bank PaineWebber in 1984, the CEO decided to pursue a legal education with the hopes of combining this passion for finance and the law.
“I found equal fulfilment in advising in the legal arena. I began to build a plan for a career that could serve both sets of clients. I wanted to fulfil the dream of building a practice that could incorporate financial advocacy, legal advocacy and, eventually, tax and accounting. A place that was truly client-centric,” reflects Pickler.
With certifications in private wealth and financial planning and a law degree from the University of Memphis, Pickler established his firm in 2005.
“Pickler Wealth Advisors opened with a team dedicated to delivering unparalleled client service. Our goal was to set new standards of excellence. We were, and still are, dedicated to client service that exceeds that found at wirehouses.”
With over 25 years of industry expertise, Pickler knows that establishing client trust is all about communication. The firm’s robust strategy includes an array of weekly market calls, podcasts and television episodes that educate clients and provide updates on recent market occurrences.
As a result of his outstanding dedication to client services, Pickler has won a number of awards:
Barron Magazine’s Top 1,000 Financial Advisors
Financial Times Top 400 Advisors
Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisor
