Sycamore Company has established itself as a leader in the wealth management sector by embracing cutting-edge, cloud-native technology, none more so than its latest offering – Surveillance Manager.
The platform is designed to overcome the challenges of manual, fragmented, and siloed compliance processes. It ensures that broker-dealers have the necessary tools to mitigate risks effectively while increasing operational efficiencies.
Surveillance Manager empowers broker-dealers to conduct detailed what-if analyses at both branch and regional levels, using Salesforce's CRM Analytics for flexible, powerful data analytics and surveillance.
It is the answer to broker-dealers who understand the need to upgrade their surveillance technology now, when the need for advanced surveillance systems is more pressing than ever.
Founded in 2008, Sycamore Company are industry veterans with 30+ years of experience each, some still holding FINRA licenses, who have worked in the space they serve. They understand the business challenges and can offer best practices solutions, in addition to providing a technology platform.
Its leadership group of Mike Overdorf (president), Mary Blackburn (EVP) and Marypat Ganley (SVP), are plugged in and actively involved with their team as well as their clients. They foster an environment of open and honest communication, both internally and with our clients, encouraging individuals to share ideas to improve our platform or services.
Broker-dealers oversee transactions and commissions across advisors and accounts to detect and investigate abuse and fraud effectively. However, many still rely on outdated technology, which complicates data aggregation, alert configuration, and efficiency. With approximately 3,500 broker-dealer firms registered with the SEC, each responsible for rigorous monitoring of compliance, the need for a modern, efficient surveillance system has never been more critical.
Challenges with legacy systems and traditional surveillance systems often involve manual or fragmented processes, such as downloading statements and pulling data from multiple silos, making it difficult to maintain a comprehensive supervisory system.
Legacy systems are typically expensive, hard-coded, and inflexible, leading to significant customization costs and operational inefficiencies. These systems generate numerous false positives, increasing workload without improving risk management.
The modern solution Sycamore's platform collects and normalizes data from multiple sources into a consistent format. This efficient data handling is integrated into the core solution, avoiding additional costs and complexities associated with legacy systems.
Unlike hard-coded systems, Surveillance Manager enables users to configure their own alerts, slicing through account, trading, and commission data effortlessly. This customization allows for precise and timely issue identification.
With powerful dashboards at hand, with Surveillance Manager compliance officers can confirm operational parameters and detect problem areas, ensuring proactive risk management. Sycamore facilitates efficient management of advisors, compliance reporting, and the handling of advisor submissions. This includes flagging accounts, implementing holds, and matching transactions with commissions in real-time.
As a cloud-native platform, Sycamore ensures that all these functionalities are accessible remotely, accommodating the current trend towards remote work. The platform's cloud-based nature also allows for easy adjustments, making it simple to manage and maintain without extensive IT support.
The system processes millions of records in real-time, enabling firms, advisors, and clients to see up-to-date information instantly. By adopting Sycamore, broker-dealers can improve their compliance processes, reduce risks, and ensure regulatory adherence, all while enhancing operational efficiency and data integrity. This shift is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge and meeting the demands of today's financial environment.
“We’re committed to delivering the highest level of service, assuring clients that their welfare is the firm’s utmost priority”
