“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”
Danny Ibrahim,

For Natalie Wolfsen, CEO of Orion, curiosity has been the key to success across the numerous high-level positions she has held in the wealth management industry.
“Curiosity is often the best career compass,” she explains. “It’s the same advice I give to rising professionals: choose an industry that excites you and is on the move, and then throw yourself into the work. When you do, the opportunities will come – and you’ll have the privilege of building something bigger than yourself.”
Joining the industry in the management consulting and payments sector, the 2025 InvestmentNews Hot List member chose to follow her passion for wealth management, building a dynamic career through roles at Schwab, Pershing, First Eagle, AssetMark, and now, Orion.
With two years under her belt as Orion’s CEO, Wolfsen has dedicated herself to expanding the firm’s offerings by providing innovative solutions that enable advisors to provide human-first advice. Strategic M&As have grown Orion’s already exceptional services, while the firm’s value proposition is proven by its clients’ successes: based on Orion's 2025 Advisor Growth Survey, in 2024 Orion clients achieved an organic asset growth rate that was nearly 10 percent higher than that of non-Orion clients.*
As the AI revolution continues to make its mark on the wealth management industry, Wolfsen sees her role at Orion as an opportunity to guide advisors through never-ending transformations, always ensuring that Orion can remain proactive in its decision-making.“The biggest challenge in my role is also the most exciting part of it – keeping pace with the extraordinary speed of change in our industry, especially around artificial intelligence.”
She adds, “Advisors today are navigating new expectations from investors, new technologies reshaping how work gets done, and new opportunities to grow. My job is to make sure Orion is always one step ahead, so we can simplify that complexity and deliver tools that truly amplify the human side of advice.”
Wolfsen’s technical skills pair with her emotional intelligence. She also prioritizes high-functioning teams, where each member’s skills are recognized and placed accordingly.
This collaborative, team-oriented mindset was cultivated over years of experience, with Wolfsen reaching the conclusion that the most rewarding achievements come through success as a group.
“Early in my career, I was very focused on proving myself, striving for promotions and recognition,” she notes. “Today, what motivates me is building something bigger than myself. I measure success by how well we win together – whether that’s Orion helping advisors accelerate growth, or our teams innovating side by side to deliver meaningful outcomes. That mindset not only makes the work more satisfying, but it also creates far greater impact.”
Wolfsen judges her success not only through growth metrics and new products, but also on the impact she has on her community. In the past year, Wolfsen expanded her work beyond Orion in ways that reflect her commitment to access to advice and empowerment. She was elected to the Foundation for Financial Planning’s Board of Trustees, where she supports the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to pro bono financial planning for people in crisis or need. This aligns closely with Orion’s role as presenting sponsor of ProBonoPlannerMatch.org, which connects thousands of CFP® professionals to underserved communities such as seniors, veterans, and low-income workers.
“These activities mirror the mission I champion inside Orion – expanding access to advice, empowering communities, and helping individuals, whether investors or students, reach their full potential.”
