Founded in 1985, the Center for Financial Planning, Inc. has created a culture and an identity that can be best summarized by the firm’s mission statement – improving lives through financial planning done right.
Now in its third generation of firm ownership, the Southfield, Michigan-based firm provides clients with best-in-class financial services spanning across risk management, tax and estate planning, and investment management.
Listed among the Financial Times 300 Top RIAs for four consecutive years, the Center for Financial Planning, Inc. is dedicated to creating a culture where team members thrive and feel valued.
“Our Managing Partner Tim Wyman has guided the firm through numerous market downturns. He’s also a shining example of selflessness and generosity. He has worked tirelessly to craft a valuation and path to partnership process that is fair to all and made transferring a large portion of our firm ownership a reality,” shares Director of Operations Lauren Adams.
“We’ve retired all three of our founders, and they’re all clients today,” continues Adams. “They were replaced by the second generation, and as they retire, they’re bringing up the third generation.”
This internal succession would not be possible without an emphasis on education, which the Center also highly values. In addition to offering employees fully covered tuition for courses such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), the Center offers team members paid professional development days and time off to attend industry events and conferences.
“We spend a lot of time, energy, and money on our firm culture. We put as much emphasis on our team member experience as we do on our client experience. All team members have a say in our firm vision and goals”
