“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

From his earliest days, Scott Van Den Berg understood that money was never just about numbers. Growing up around Century Management, the Austin-based wealth management firm his father founded more than 50 years ago, he listened as conversations about markets and portfolios inevitably turned toward something deeper: how thoughtful financial decisions could solve problems, reduce worry, and help families live better lives.
Today, after more than three decades as a planner and advisor, Van Den Berg has earned success because he never lost sight of that bigger purpose. He began his career in real estate, only later joining the family firm. It was when he started working directly with clients, though, that the full weight of the role came into focus.
“Financial planning and wealth management aren’t just about investments,” he says. “It’s about helping people make thoughtful decisions about their lives, families, businesses, and futures.”
With more than 34 years of experience, he has lived through multiple market cycles and a wide range of client life events. That breadth of experience allows him to bring a calm, steady hand to uncertain environments. “You learn that discipline and perspective often matter more than prediction,” he says.
Rather than trying to outguess the future, his approach is to build strategies that can withstand it. That preparation is rooted in deep technical expertise. Van Den Berg has continuously built his product knowledge through rigorous study of markets, interest rates, inflation, tax-efficient strategies, and retirement planning for both individuals and business owners. His credentials – such as CFP®, ChFC®, CEPA®, and AIF® – are matched by an ongoing commitment to workshops, research, and constant reading.
Yet he is quick to point out that knowledge alone is not enough. “At its best, financial planning becomes a true partnership: a collaborative process of sharing information, studying the facts, drawing on experience, and making thoughtful decisions together,” he says.
Integrity is another defining hallmark of his work. Century Management operates as a fiduciary, fee-only advisor, a structure that Van Den Berg views as the natural expression of a client-first ethos. Recommendations are made solely in the client’s best interest, supported by regular plan updates, portfolio reviews, and proactive adjustments as life evolves. In an era when artificial intelligence and online tools put generalized financial information at everyone’s fingertips, he sees his role as helping clients filter the noise – separating what is useful from what is incomplete or inapplicable.
Perhaps the clearest measure of his impact is the trust of the families he serves. Century Management is now a third-generation firm, working with individuals and families across multiple generations, focused on long-term portfolio management, risk-aware investing, and life-centered planning. Many relationships span decades, and for Van Den Berg, that enduring trust is his greatest professional achievement and the most meaningful validation.
He adds, “Money decisions are rarely just about numbers; they reflect values, priorities, and how people want to live their lives.”

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
“I’ve always believed that if you love what you do, you’ll never settle, and that attitude has guided every decision I’ve made,” he adds.
That outlook continues to guide his work and reflects his broader goal of helping move the industry forward. Through his brokerage, lending company, and legal services, Ibrahim is focused on creating long-term value for his clients, his teams, and others working in the field.
