Profile
Michele Newhouse’s path to success wasn’t built on a grand career plan but on an opportunity she had the wisdom to seize – and the dedication to honor.
Now senior vice president and financial advisor at Wealth Enhancement, her career began modestly, working as a client service manager before one of the firm’s founding members changed the course of her trajectory.
“He asked if I would like to join him in a partnership,” Newhouse says. “It was an amazing opportunity, which I am forever grateful for. He then retired a few years later, and I have been blessed to continue with Wealth Enhancement since.”
What sets Newhouse apart, by her own account, is a deeply personal approach to client relationships. “I think it’s important to understand each of them and to know what their goals are, personally and financially. I work with some really lovely people, and I hope they know that I care about them and that I’m doing everything I can to help them achieve their wishes.” The results speak for themselves: Newhouse maintains a 99.6 percent client retention rate, year after year.
That trust has been earned through consistency and candor. Her guiding philosophy is one she describes as “dedicated and forthright” – a pairing that means she will not shy away from difficult conversations when a client’s retirement plan needs to change. She adds, “My mission is to make sure my clients achieve their goals in the most efficient manner possible.”
Her technical credentials are equally robust. Newhouse spent six years working directly under a financial advisor before a year in Wealth Enhancement’s central planning department. She has since earned her Series 66, Series 7, and CFP qualifications, alongside life and health insurance licenses. Continuous education, she insists, is non-negotiable. “Education is a commitment to the job.” She also draws strength from the network of professionals around her at Wealth Enhancement, collaborating and learning from colleagues as a matter of course.
Newhouse also acknowledges the particular challenges she faced as a woman entering the industry in the early 2000s – a time when female advisors were a rarity. “It was not easy becoming and maintaining my practice as a sole female advisor in a predominantly male industry,” she says, “but I was determined to make it work.” That determination has paid dividends, and she now sees her gender as a genuine advantage in an evolving marketplace. “Being a female advisor has become more appealing to investors and retirees over the years. I think I’m in a great position to continue growing my business.”
Asked about the single greatest achievement of her career, Newhouse does not hesitate. It is the status she has earned at Wealth Enhancement – and everything it represents. “I’m extremely proud of my business and my clients,” she says. “My title is the icing on the cake.”
